Who owns englands water

We pay the water charges with our council tax and it works! The company serves 3 million people and helps 60, low income customers to pay their bills. People are happy with the service - surveys show sector-leading levels of customer satisfaction. Wouldn't it be great if when you turned the tap on, you knew the water belonged to all of us? If your cup of tea or your bubble bath was just there for you to enjoy and not a revenue stream for private investors?

Let's follow the examples of Paris and Berlin, Scotland and Wales. Check out the People's Plan for Water - a crowdsourced manifesto for what the water companies will do when we own them! Photo credit: Fraz Ismat. Water is a human right, and privatisation has failed. When you turn on a tap to make a cup of tea or run a bath, you're using water that should belong to all of us.

But right now, if you live in England, your water is privatised. This means higher bills, more leaks and not much control over our water - even though we can't live without it. Do you believe in public services for people not profit? Where's your money going? Savings from publicly owned water Water. Socialism is not a cooperative island in the middle of capitalism, but a global system of society that will replace capitalism.

It does not include your personal belongings such as your toothbrush or clothing, or the family heirloom. It also implies the democratic control of the means and instruments for producing and distributing wealth, for if everyone owns, then everyone must have equal right to control the means and instruments for producing and distributing wealth.

State ownership is merely the ownership by the capitalist class as a whole, instead of by individual capitalists, and the government then runs the state enterprises to serve the capitalist class. The working class does not own or control. It produces for a privileged minority.

Completely off-topic, but I don't know how otherwise to get a message to you. How do we cancel or amend our Gocardless subscriptions?

There doesn't seem to be any facility on the blog to do this. I'm in dispute with Yorkshite water at the moment, everytime I argue with one of their advisors and quote how much there CEO earns a year, I get cut off. I will not submit to their demands that I set up a direct debit, I will not accept how much they want to charge me. They are total dooshbags!! I think you have it slightly wrong: the UK government insists that it is itself unfit to run the nation's water supply.

Who can honestly argue? Post a Comment. The industry regulator, Ofwat, has recently challenged the water companies on their dividend policies. Anglian Water said it was incorrect to say debt was being used to pay dividends.

Customers benefit: bills are cheaper. This is why we do it. It said investors had not taken a dividend payment since When the sewer system is operating normally, sewage leaves homes and businesses and is treated at a treatment works. Only when it has been treated is wastewater released to the environment, either out to sea through long outfalls or coastal discharges, or into rivers.
